Bracket Mounting Disks
An aluminum backing support for a trolling motor mount is a 2” diameter disk made of ½” thick 6061-grade aluminum. The backing support is designed to provide additional reinforcement to the mounting area of the boat where the trolling motor is attached.
Benefits of using mounting disks:
1. Load Distribution: Multiple backing supports can distribute the load over a wider area compared to a single backing plate.
2. Flexibility: Using multiple backing supports allows for more flexibility in positioning and alignment.
3. Accessibility: Using multiple backing supports can make it easier to maneuver and install the components in tight spaces, as you can insert them one by one and secure them individually.
**When using these backing disks, it is important to always have a fender washer between the disk and the lock nut. These disks are designed to work with ¼-20 Phil flat machine screws.
We recommend using machine screws with coarse threads. Please ask your local distributor of hardware what locking nuts work best for the thread type that you are using for your installation.
Sea Brackets Offset Plate Installation Guide
We recommend always using a trained professional when installing a trolling motor. These offset mounting plates are designed to work with both the standard Rhodan quick-release bracket mounting puck and the mounting puck for Minn Kota’s RTA–54/RTA-62 quick-release bracket. Utilizing an offset mounting plate when installing your trolling motor will allow you to configure your
quick-release mounting puck in directions that are not possible by just mounting to your bow.
Our offset trolling motor mounting plates require flat head 1 / 4 – 20 machine screws, 1 / 4 – 20 lock nuts and fender washers, and backing plates (starboard or aluminum) for each installation. Every boat is different and will require different length screws to get through the plate, hull, raiser pads (if needed) backing plates, etc. It is important to take all these variables into consideration when preparing for your installation.
If your installation requires the mounting puck to be over the side of your gunnel, you will need 2” – 2.5” screws 1 / 4
– 20 mounting screws (pan head for Rhodan and flat head for Minn Kota RTA–54/RTA-62). This will allow you to still have a fender washer and lock nut.
It is very important to lay out your mounting plate and trolling motor before drilling ANY holes into your bow. This will allow you to ensure that you are installing your trolling motor the exact way that you desire. Depending on your boat, you may need to install an access hole for the backing plate under the mounting bracket.
